Here, beneath one of our Creator’s mightiest creations, from the Everest to the Annapurna Mountain Peaks, we have gathered to contemplate the forces of war and mass murder that are rampant in the modern world. In the face of mankind’s tremendous technological progress, the young are still forced to think and think, how could conflict – conventional as well as nuclear – be eradicated forever on the face of this earth?
In the prime of their lives, it is the young who most suffer senseless enmity. They may think that it is their bounden duty to go out and fight somebody they never saw or knew because some of their elders have commanded them to do so. Even so, it is they and not the political or religious elders who face mutilation of their bodies and talents, if they survive at all.
Those who elect to follow suicidal acts in furtherance of an alleged religiously inspired idea of spiritual fulfillment are equally wrong. Unfortunately, today it is too often the case of the young following elders seeking to achieve their own goals and theologies, which are strongly argued to be extremist. |

 Obama’s calm leadership style, his deliberative methods and his tight teamwork has winsome most of the commentators upon his 100 days of successful US presidency. Unlike others, Mr. Fareed Zakaria of Newsweek has pointed some specialties on Obama who has read the country and the political moment correctly. He understands that America in 2009 is in a very different place now. Newsweek magazine has reported that today, America is more liberal than it was two decades ago. In a detailed study for the liberal think tank the Center for American Progress, Ruy Teixeira, and John Halpin point out that 67 percent of Americans now think favorably of the term "progressive," a 25 point increase in five years, which suggested that Barrack Obama's success derives from his understanding of this shift—and his readiness to act on it. |

 Dalam wacana sempena memperingati tragedi 27 Oktober 1947 ataupun lebih dikenali sebagai Kashmir Black Day baru-baru ini, Prof Arif Zakaullah menegaskan bahawa kemelut yang masih melanda Kashmir sehingga ke hari ini tidak seharusnya dilihat dari perspektif sempit, konflik di antara India dan Pakistan mahupun antara komuniti Islam serta Hindu semata-mata. Sebaliknya, tragedi yang telah meragut ratusan ribu nyawa yang tidak berdosa itu seharusnya dilihat sebagai sebuah simbol kegagalan masyarakat antarabangsa menangani krisis kemanusiaan yang berlaku di Kashmir . Sebagai contoh, walaupun Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa (PBB) telah mengeluarkan tiga resolusi pada 1948, 1949, serta 1957, ia sekadar terhad di atas kertas semata-mata tanpa ada sebarang usaha yang berkesan yang dilakukan untuk melaksanakannya. |
